WE GOT HIM: US Soccer Federation Did The Smart Thing And Mauricio Pochettino Is The Next USMNT Head Coach

Ladies and gentleman, UPDATE: we got him.

This makes sense when this tweet was out there a week ago

This better not be Poch playing us for a contract somewhere else. This would be a great hire, especially with what most USMNT fans thought we'd end up with. Look, Klopp said no, that was the ultimate dream. Poch is a damn good manager and this thread does a good job explaining his fit with us:

We screamed about getting someone outside of the MLS or outside of the USSF family (quite literally in Gregg's case). This is it. By the sounds of it, we're going to land Poch, a guy who coached and played at the highest level. I know he didn't coach at the international level. That's not a must-have for me. It's important, but it can be a bit overblown. It's about figuring out how to get these guys to compete against decent competition. It's about having someone in there who can hold people accountable and figure out what the hell to do with the roster. That's where I trust Poch.

It made too much sense to hire someone like Poch when he's sitting right there for us. You go get him, get him in now and have 2 years until the World Cup on home soil. You can't be a shitshow like Copa America (not the actual stadiums, mostly just losing). We also need this to be true, because we can't keep delaying hiring someone. There are ties to Matt Crocker and Poch, that has to count for something, right?

And look, it comes down to players showing up too. Can't have no shots, easily missed goals, dumb defensive decisions, all that stuff. But it starts with having a manager who knows what they are doing. Give me Poch.

Another Quick Update: The fact that US Soccer Federation was able to go out and hire a guy like Poch makes it even dumber that Matt Crocker brought back Gregg Berhalter last time. All we heard was we couldn't hire a name like this, the analytics said to hire Berhalter again. What a joke that was. Don't ever forget that stuff when it comes to the US hiring someone. Pep and Klopp were the dream guys, obviously longshots. Poch was the best manager out there after them who we realistically had a shot at hiring.
