Watching This Sea Otter Get Buckets Is Guaranteed To Brighten Your Day

Just last night I wrote a blog about how even with a new name and a fancy new promo video, it still was pretty hard for me to give a shit about the NBA Cup. Even as someone who enjoys the games and thinks the idea isn't half bad, it simply doesn't move the needle for me in the way the NBA hopes it would

Well, then I happened to come across the Blazers schedule announcement video…..

Holy shit is that adorable. Does it make me care more about the NBA Cup? No. Not really. But I dare someone to watch that video and not have a smile on their face. If you find yourself having a shitty day today, just give that a watch and I guarantee you'll feel better.

That little fella not only looks like he's having the time of his life, but his efficiency is through the roof. For a Blazers team that was 29th in the NBA in FG% within 5ft of the rim, perhaps it's time to give this otter a camp invite? I mean that was some serious finishing power! We even got a little 360 move which of course was executed so flawlessly it was like watching Shaedon Sharpe (who might be the best in game dunker in the NBA right now)

All I know is that famous internet Corgi who stands at the top of the stairs and shoots a basketball into a basket to predict a playoff series winner? Your days are numbered. There appears to be a new sheriff in town and I'm all for it. The Blazers should do this again for their full 82 game schedule that comes out tomorrow just so we can get more of this sea otter in action.

Quickly, if we could get serious about the Blazers for a second, am I crazy for suggesting there's actual legit NBA talent on this roster?

I know they have a long climb from their last place finish in the West (21-61), but on paper, that does not look or feel like a 21 win team. Could they make a similar leap like the one UTA made and win 31? It doesn't exactly help that they play in a stacked conference, but I feel like with even the slightest internal improvement from their young guys, getting Robert Williams back and the addition of Deni Avdija who's solid, they should at least be watchable this season until they flip some of these vets at the trade deadline. The tough part of last year was the fact that they were just 1-15 in their division (OKC, DEN, MIN, UTA) which just so happens to have the top 3 seeds in the West which doesn't look like it's changing any time soon, and they were just 8-44 overall against the West and that's with the Grizzlies having their entire roster hurt/suspended which won't be the case this time around.

Who knows what the plan is for this team or how long it will take before the results start showing up on the court, but at least now Blazers fans can distract themselves with that cute as shit sea otter. That's a win I suppose.
