GRIT: Michelle Jenneke Ran The Repechage With A Fully Ruptured Hamstring, Wanted To Show Australia She Wouldn't Give Up Easily

[Source] - A day after Michelle Jenneke’s fall, she ran the repechage with the ruptured hamstring and still clocked 13.86s.

"I ran today with one less hamstring than usual and obviously that was pretty difficult, but ... I said to the doctor, 'Can I still run?'” she revealed to the media after racing in the repechage.

"I knew that making that semi-final and running under 13 seconds missing one of your hamstrings is probably pretty impossible but I wanted to prove to myself and the rest of Australia that I have got grit in me and I'm not going to give up easily.”

Someone knew it was Grit Week! Look, I don't care who you are or what you do, you achieve anything with the word ruptured on your body and you're gritty. I will also be fueling this same thought process as I head to Ireland in a week for golf after this disaster:

Quick update: no idea what the diagnosis is. I go to the orthopedic today, but have been able to move around a little bit. I'm not competing in a hurdles race, but I can get up and down steps and wiggle my foot and stand on tiptoes. I can't say I'm as tough as Michelle Jenneke who ran a sub-14 second race with one hamstring, but we're not far off. You know what it takes to drive 5 hours with a stiff leg? Did that yesterday.

I know many are probably wondering why are we getting so many Michelle Jenneke updates? First, content, content, content. Second, she was an Internet OG. This is for everyone who remembers 2012-2016 and Jenneke was everywhere. It's important to honor the legends. Third, you try running an Olympic race with a ruptured hamstring. That deserves to be talked about no matter what you do. Love that her first question was 'can I race?' That's grit personified. That would make Dan Campbell, Antonio Pierce, Jim Harbaugh blush with pride. You get out there and run for your country. Get well soon, Michelle. See you in physical therapy.
