Earthquake Shakes The Shit Out Of Dodger Stadium Mid-Game Because The Phillies Were Giving It To LA Too Hard

LOS ANGELES  - Cristopher Sánchez pitched six strong innings, Edmundo Sosa and Kyle Schwarber homered back-to-back in the ninth and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 on Tuesday night in a matchup of the National League's top two teams. A preliminary magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck in the middle of the seventh inning. It was centered near Mettler, California, about 89 miles north of downtown Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The Phillies announcers said they didn't feel it in their booth, but it was noticed in the control truck and in the Dodger Stadium press box. There was no discernible reaction from the crowd of 47,150. Phillies manager Rob Thomson said he felt it in the dugout. Philadelphia clinched the season series over the Dodgers, 4-1, going into the finale Wednesday.

California, man. A 2.5 quake rattles the East Coast and people think the Four Horseman are following on the horizon. A 5.3 in LA? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Barely anyone even noticed. I mean, yes, it happened during the 7th inning stretch, but they didn't even really stop play. Everyone just kinda acted like Captain Steven Hiller's stripper dancer wife and said "It's not even a 4 pointer, go back to sleep". Hey, as long as everyone's OK, I don't hate it. Gotta adhere to the pitch clock, baby.

Also, the Phillies NEEDED the spark. After 6 straight series losses it's good to get at least a series tie on the road vs. arguably the best team in the Majors. Earthquake or not, they were in control of this game after Chrisopher Sanchez pitched 6 wonderful innings for another quality start. After the shaking, it was game over. As you can see, the aftershocks were provided beautifully by Edmundo Sosa and Kyle Schwarber with the latter baseball having the foul poll being the only thing stopping it from leaving Earth's orbit.

Obviously the most famous quake during a baseball game was the World Series in Oakland in '89. However, this was someway, somehow the 2nd Earthquake Game the East Coast based Phillies experienced THIS season. John McLain said it first…fuckin' California.

10:10 tonight to close out the series. Then Arizona for some revenge. Keep the momentum going please, for Red October is nigh…
