Apparently Ben Affleck Is Going To Play Hulk Hogan In A Movie About Him Suing Gawker Into Bolivian
This is some weird shit right here!
Apparently BEN AFFLECK - yes, that Ben Affleck - is going to be playing Hulk Hogan (and reuniting with 'Good Will Hunting' director Gus Van Sant) in a new movie called 'KILLING GAWKER' about the Hulkster suing them into the ground a few years ago. It's being written by Chris Randolph (who also wrote 'The Big Short') and produced by Affleck/Matt Damon's production company, which all sounds pretty great on paper....but I just don't know if I can see Ben Affleck as Hulk Hogan right now.
Hell, it even felt strange when Chris Hemsworth was tapped to play Hogan in a Todd Phillips directed biopic a few years back - and Hemsworth is a lot more believable as the Hulkster than Affleck in my opinion!
Hulk Hogan just such an iconic/unique persona and presence that it's hard to imagine anyone portraying him convincingly well on the big screen. Like, we're gonna be hearing Ben Affleck's Reindeer Games' head ass saying "brother" left and right while he's rocking a skullet and a leathery tan? That just feels bizarre. Almost as bizarre as his new haircut....
What's going on there? He got the exact inverse of the Hogan haircut!
Divorce does crazy things to people, I guess. Some go through a nasty mid-life crisis, some begin to tailspin, and some sign on to play Hulk Hogan in a major motion picture directed by Gus Van Sant.
Maybe Dave will pop up in this like he appeared in 'Dumb Money', considering how much they used to cover this saga on the Rundown....
I hope when I get my first look at Affleck as Hogan that I'm blown away and proven wrong here, but this just has piece of shit written all over it right now in my eyes. I don't even think Gus Van Sant has directed anything worthwhile since 'MILK' in 2008.
