The Way It Should Be - Jon Rahm Thinks Countries Should Be Able To Pick Who They Want To Make The Olympics, Wants Golf To Be A Team Event

Let me be very clear, when it comes to the Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup or the Olympics, I don't give a shit about LIV vs PGA. It becomes an American thing. I want our best golfers there because I want to win. If that's Bryson, Xander and Scottie so be it. If it's any combination, so be it. Just wear the red, white and blue and beat the shit out of everyone. So I agree with Jon Rahm (who is playing for Spain) that we need to get rid of the OWGR and make it a selection process. I know Wyndham Clark won the US Open last year but no one thinks he's one of the best the US has to offer yet he's in the Olympics because of OWGR.

More importantly, it's time we get rid of the same old shit we're used to watching. The 72-hole stroke play tournament is every single week. Mix it up. Make it similar to the Ryder Cup with best ball, alternate shot, a singles match somehow. Hell, throw in a scramble for shits and giggles. I don't care, just give us something different than 72-hole individual stroke play. We rarely get team events outside of those major events and the Zurich Classic.

I know people will say this is what happens when you join LIV. It's part of the punishment, whatever. Again, we're talking the Olympics here. There should be a better way to send players to the Olympics than just OWGR. We find ways for team events to pick a selection process for players. It should be that way for golf. Hell make it an individual and team event. Give me match play for the individual medal and something for the team event.
