Team USA Players Laughed Off A Japanese Fan's Sign That Said "You Need Caitlin Clark To Beat Us" Ahead Of Their First Game
It's a slow Monday so I'm diving into the basketball game before Greenie or Reags can get to it. Anyway, sometimes there's dreaming too big, and then there's whatever this Japanese fan is doing. It took me a little bit of research (more than Big T would do on a Georgia football player blog) to see that the US women's team hasn't lost in the Olympics since 1992, and are *checks notes* 21 point favorites ahead of tipoff which starts in about 5 minutes at the time of me writing this. I'm sure they could replace half the team with guys off Kirk Minihane's pickup squad and still find a way to dominate every opponent.
The storyline of this entire tournament which will 1000000% end in a USA gold medal like always will of course be Caitlin Clark getting left off the team. That's obvious. But respect where its due in that this fan is wearing a jersey that likely no one else on the entire planet has, which seems to be a Brooklyn Nets/Lakers D'Angelo Russell collab. Not entirely sure if he originally had tickets to see the non-D'Angelo Russell men's team, or he's just a master troll.
My favorite part of this video is A'ja Wilson who is by far the best player in women's basketball today laughing that sign off like she isn't going to average 30/30 against far inferior opponents. You think anyone is stopping this?
Team USA is already up 8 minutes into the game by the way. Good luck out there to everyone else.
