Kevin Durant Isn't Done Burying People On Twitter, This Time He Goes After Keyshawn Johnson For Stating The Warriors Would Have Been Just As Good With Paul Pierce

The internet ink was barely dry on my blog from earlier today about Kevin Durant hopping on Twitter and burying Twitter randoms trying to tell him how basketball should be played

and here we are with his next target in Keyshawn Johnson. It's pretty obvious that with these next few days off before the matchup with South Sudan that Durant has all the time in the world on his hands, and as we know when he has time he's going to be on Twitter, ready to strike whenever someone decides to play around with his name which is exactly what Keyshawn did

Now considering Paul Pierce is one of the greatest to ever do it, I'm not going to say Keyshawn is wrong here. Prime Pierce on that Warriors team would be awesome. He's a first ballot HOFer, Top 75 Team Member for a reason (he was a Top 50 player too btw). So yeah, a player like that being added to the Warriors dynasty trio is most likely going to be pretty good.

But what remains bizarre to me is how people are STILL trying to discredit what KD did as a Warrior. Was it pretty lame that he teamed up with that group? Sure. But that doesn't change what actually happened on the court and how crucial Durant was to those Warriors titles

It's a little crazy and pretty disrespectful to think any player could just be plugged in and the Warriors would have had that same success, even if that player is my beloved Paul Pierce. For starters there's no way to prove any of that, so at the end of the day you're just hating on a guy nearly a decade later…for what? Especially coming off the KD performance we got against Serbia? That just feels lame to me.

As expected, due to all this newfound time on his hand, KD weighed in like we all knew he would once that clip started going viral

Boom…roasted? Listen you may not want to do it but you have to once again give the point to KD here. The Jets went from 3-13 before Keyshawn to 1-15 with Keyshawn. In the same way it's impossible to prove Keyshawn wrong with his Pierce claim, the same is true here with KD's.

If you're of the stance that KD should be the bigger person and ignore all this shit online, by now you should know that's simply not possible. He's right too, these hypotheticals are all so stupid. I had to hear it all year during the Celts title run with Jayson Tatum.

"Oh take him off this team and replace him with a player much worse than him and they'd still win!"

while ignoring that maybe they (and the Warriors) were so dominant in large part because of those players? Especially when they played crucial roles in delivering a championship, and in Durant's case two (while also being a 2x Finals MVP).

If anything, this just highlights what's wrong with sports discourse in 2024. Everything is a hypothetical that's talked about as if they are fact. It's exhausting really and only used as a way to chop someone down, which is kind of sad.

On the plus side, it gives us moments like today with KD on Twitter, and I'll always appreciate an athlete for not biting their tongue and calling these bozos out when warranted.
