Phillies Trade For Carlos Estévez AKA The Closing Stud Who Very Well Could Be Pitching The Final Out Of The 2024 World Series
Bury that lead more, Mr. Passan. Christ almighty. The All-Star closer hasn't given up a run in more than 2 months and he doesn't even get his own name mentioned in his trade Tweet. To each their own. But what a move by The Fightins. Dom gonna Dom, baby. Mason Miller aside, I very, very slightly would've preferred Tanner Scott to bolster the Arm-Barn, but Estévez is still extremely studly. He's sporting a 2.38 ERA in 34 games this season with 20 saves in 23 opportunities while his 0.73 WHIP is the third best among all MLB relievers. The Phillies also didn't give up all THAT much (meaning no Miller, Painter, or Crawford) to acquire the 31-year-old righty, whose contract expires at the end of the year. A solid move, for sure. Well damn done, Dom.
Oh, and ICYMI, the Phillies bet the 2nd best team in the MLB (record wise, at least) with a rookie local product pitcher via complete game shutty. Destiny shit for this team, yet again. Red October is coming...
