Genie Bouchard Makes A Strong Case For Saint-Tropez To Host A Tennis Major

Part of what makes Wimbledon such a special tournament every year is the dress code. Even people who don't follow tennis too closely know that everybody wears white at Wimbledon. It helps it stand out from the rest of the tournaments.

So former Wimbledon finalist and current pickleball player Genie Bouchard is onto something here. Obviously there's already the French Open at Rolland-Garros. But maybe Saint-Tropez should takeover hosting responsibilities for the French Open from now on with a new swimwear dress code.

Could you imagine watching Carlos Alcaraz v Novak Djokovic in the final both wearing a set of thong bikini bottoms? Or imagine Frances Tiafoe dazzling everyone in the quarterfinals while wearing the Borat mankini.

Don't even get me started on that tall glass of water Jannik Sinner.

It's just a good idea for each tournament to have it's own little quirks outside of just the court surface. The average viewer might not care about grass vs clay vs hardcourt. But you throw Sascha Zverev out there in a speedo? Now there's some more significance to the French Open brand. Credit to Genie Bouchard on starting the movement.
