We've Reached The Point Where Steve Kerr Is Publicly Denying Team USA Will Send Kevin Durant Home, Because We 'Need' Him To Dominate

I don't really care about the Team USA exhibition games. They are just that. I do care when the Olympics start, because like I always say. I don't care what sport, who you are, whatever, you put on that red, white and blue and I want you to beat the shit out of the rest of the world. We're the best sports country in the world, time to keep on proving it.

I say all that because the only real story from the exhibition games is Kevin Durant's injury. Maybe it was Joel Embiid being a mole and ruining the team, but he actually played well yesterday. Too many close games, needing LeBron to bail us out against Germany and South Sudan. Not great, but again, whatever in an exhibition where Steve Kerr is using hockey line changes for subs. Don't do that in the Olympics, just play who is playing the best. Pretty simple coaching here.

But now we've reached the point where Jrue Holiday, Steve Kerr and basically the rest of Team USA is coming out and publicly denying they are sending Kevin Durant home. They can do that, because rosters don't lock until Friday. There's also this:

Again, the whole point here is to win gold. That's all that matters when you play for Team USA. Sure, the rest of the world has gotten better. There are NBA players all over the place now. But it shouldn't matter. Not when you look at this team and roster and have all the depth Team USA does. But we got guys talking about how they need Kevin Durant. He's arguably the best Olympic basketball player we've ever had. Stats say so, longevity says so, what he's done in knockout games says so. But do we really *need* Kevin Durant? It's not like we don't have Steph, LeBron, Anthony Davis, Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker and yes, even Joel Embiid on the team. I don't care for any excuses and Steve Kerr has gotta stop being Gregg Berhalter-esque.

Beat Serbia. Beat the world. That simple. I don't care who is out there, if Durant needs to sit until the medal rounds, go ahead. Just figure out how to dominate again like we should be doing.
