Jakey Learned How To Putt. Uh Oh.

Since I have started creating golf content a couple of years ago, there is no debate about what the weakest part of my game has been...

This was a rare spot where I actually agreed with all of the golf trolls. They're usually in your replies with only negative things to say, but every tweet regarding my putting was spot-on. It was bad. Very, very bad. But over the last few months, it has been the part of my game that I have focused on the most.

When I was in the Chicago office, I would practice at the putting green for 30-60 minutes multiple times a week just trying to figure things out. A few lessons mixed in helped with the improvement as well. And it all leads up to this statement:

Jakey Learned How To Putt. Uh Oh.

As you can see at the top of this blog, I posted my 9 Holes in 90 Seconds video at Bethpage Black's Back 9 last night. That putt on 10 felt incredible. Obviously, those ones are going to be rare going forward. But I have gotten to a point where I am confident that I can make anything inside of 10 feet. That has NEVER been a thing before. It has always been, "do whatever you can to avoid a three-putt." That mentality is out the window, and never coming back.

In case you missed it, here is the Bethpage Black Front 9 video as well…

Now that both videos are out, I present to you my official Bethpage Black scorecard…

94! Bethpage Black! Such a fun, but challenging course. I will admit, the driver was as good as it has ever been on this day, which is massive for this course. And when you can make a few putts as well? Look out.

The flat stick has totally shrunken my handicap, too. The whole "moving back to Florida" thing may have had an impact on this, too:

Next on the priority list: chipping. It's not great. But putting practice will still be a thing. I am not losing this momentum.
