Watching Shohei Ohtani Hit A Ball 473 Feet And Almost Out Of Dodger Stadium Is Actually Mesmerizing
I think everyone had the same reaction on Sunday when they heard this one. "OH MY GOD!" We all knew it would happen eventually, but it finally did. Shohei Ohtani almost hitting a ball OVER the roof and completely out of Dodger Stadium. We've seen some big righties do it, but never a lefty like Ohtani. The second you heard him connect you knew this one was going a long way. It also helps that ESPN's mics make everything sound like a gunshot, but you knew this was a special homer right away. 473 feet to deeeeeeeeeep right center field, you could tell it either went out of the park or was headed over the roof by the way people looked up and reacted. And if we're talking about reactions, just look how the Dodger dugout reacted. Looked like Hot Sauce just hit someone with a crossover at Rucker Park. What a great highlight though, the sound, the call, the way the fans are looking to see where it went, I can't stop watching it.
For a few minutes we all thought the ball went over the roof and rolled out of the stadium but it apparently went under the roof but over the Daiso sign. The fact that he cpuld thread that needle is pretty awesome too, but it flew over the concourse out there and landed below where fans enter the park. Willing to bet a ball has never, ever ended up there.
You see the ball all scratched and nicked up too, that thing went on a journey that no baseball in history ever has before. According to Sarah Langs it's his 7th HR of 450 feet or more this year alone which is insane. It's him and Judge and then everyone else when it comes to power hitting. Clayton Kershaw was mic'd up for it and was about to start his interview and said he was like speechless. That guy has played in Dodger Stadium forever and he was shocked at where that ball ended up. It's just a joy to watch that guy pulverize baseballs every night, maybe next time he'll actually square one up and send it fully out of the stadium. Guarantee you he hits one over the roof before the season ends.
