Everybody Stop What You're Doing And Give Layla The Minor League Batdog The Bestest Wishes In Retirement
No, that's not an angel. Yet. That's Layla The Clearwater Thrasher Single-A Bat Dog. No offense to Dotty Hinson, Mo'ne Davis, and Marge Schott (actually major offense to the last one) but Layla is officially the goodest, nay, greatest girl to ever be involved with the game. Clearwooder's saint of the bats has finally completed her service at 13-years-young. And it's nice to see she chose to forgo the Golden parachute in favor of the tastiest treat possible:
CAUTION: TEAR WORTHY VIDEO AHEAD FOR ANYONE WHO HAD TO WATCH THEIR BEST FRIEND AGE
And here we have Layla's first bat on the job. The good girl is beyond adorable and always had IT.
The grace. The spunk. The execution. Layla did it all from the jump. No treat went undeserved in all her years of service.
Long live Layla. It was truly awesome to see the players and umpires let her take her sweet time to perform her final bat duty. Not every Blue is made the same, like this soullsess bastard behind the plate. Send him straight to a lifetime of independent ball pre-teen travel baseball without passing Go/Angel Hernandez on the way down.
