Booth Chronicles, Volume II: All-Star Game With An All-Star Crew

After making my debut as a Sideline Reporter last week for the Premier Lacrosse League, it was time to run it back in Louisville for the league's Skills Challenge and All-Star Game on ESPN. First up on Friday night, the league was kind enough to invite us to the annual All-Star Party, located at the Kentucky Derby Museum at the one and only Churchill Downs...

It was an awesome event celebrating the best lacrosse players in the world. A big thank you to Paul Rabil and the PLL for the invite at this iconic venue.

Moving ahead to Saturday, I had this date circled on my calendar for a long time. This was going to be a special broadcast because it meant a reunion in the real world with one of my good friends from college, Drew Carter…

The WILDMETER was off the charts on this one, folks. A true, full-circle moment. I know there are a ton of Boston fans who are AWL's and Stoolies, so you may already know Drew. But he just finished his first season as the TV play-by-play voice of the Celtics, and is taking over for Mike Gorman full-time starting this season. You'll be hearing him calling Celtics games for the next few decades. He's very good.

Once the game got rolling, it was a very laid back vibe. The players were just having fun trying to create some awesome moments. The big winner of the day was Marcus Holman, who won the Accuracy Challenge and was the All-Star Game MVP…

It was 97 degrees on the field, there was no breeze, and I was in pants. Not ideal! But catching a bit of this victory bath felt incredible…

That'll do it for my PLL coverage this summer. Fortunately, there are still a handful of assignments coming up over the new few weeks. Until next time…
