The Best Team In Baseball Sweep The Not Bad LA Dodgers While Never Trailing For A Single Inning All Series
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!
What a dominant series over the current World Series champion favorites (LA is +330, Phils are +500 on the great DK Sportsbook). A complete sweep at the Bank in which The Fightins didn't even fall behind - ONCE. The boys are beaten up with Bryce sitting out a game, Wheeler leaving his game and missing an upcoming start, and JT, but it don't matter. Everyone and anyone is stepping up for this squad. The pitching has been speaking for itself but the performances of Nola, Sanchez, Wheeler, Hoffman, and Strahm during this series were nothing short of dominant. The strarting NL shortstop in the All-Star Game, Trea Turner, isn't doing so bad as of late, either:
The man has 6 dingers in 9 July games and is currently batting a pedestrian .348 on the season. Ho didily hum. And then you got Brandon Marsh who is aware he may be facing a platoon-like situation after the trade deadline, so naturally he responds with class, heart, hair, Yabos, and this beautiful '80's delight with the Phanatic:
Then there's Johan Rojas, a kid who has been sent down to the minors already once this season and will probably lose his consistent starting spot after Dombrowski makes a power move for a CF. The man just shows up and games. They used to say two-thirds of the Earth is covered by water, the other one-third by Garry Maddox (CF glove for the 1980 championship team). You might have to extend Rojas' coverage into Outer Space:
"Ball that's hit, ball I catch"
Love to love it. Especially against one of the best squads in the majors. Wait…but I thought the Phillies couldn't beat teams with a record over .500??? Remember when that was not only a, but THE thing??? Yeah, well, suck on this fat one:
Anyone with eyes can see which team is currently the best squad in ball. Does that matter? Somewhat. It's cute to get the #1 overall seed and the playoff BYE with homefield that come with the finish. But say that to the Dodgers and Braves of the past few season. It don't mean dick unless you finish the job. And right now it's absolutely World Series Championship or bust. This amazing Phillies revival won't mean anything if a title isn't ultimately involved. How much differently would we look at the '07-'11 run if they weren't able to take it down? My point exactly. Finish the first half healthy, enjoy the ASG, and get ready to make a run. The chemistry, magic, and "IT" is there. Just missing the chip and the parade.
