Silver Lining For Italy Fans After Losing To Spain: Giusy Meloni Isn't Nervous One Bit About The Team Still Making A Run At Euro 2024

Big match yesterday at the Euros. Spain/Italy, classic rivalry, stars, all that good stuff. Winner guaranteed a spot in the knockout round too. So setting the stage, we had an own goal. That's it. Italy loses 1-0 because of that play above (and the fact Italy can't score) and now head into the final match with a good chance to advance, but you never know. They have 3 points, play Croatia who has 1 and Albania has 1 too. There's a shot that Italy could finish bottom of the group if they lose and Albania wins. Tournament over. Again, long shot, but it's still in play.

So I say all that to say there's a silver lining. Giusy Meloni, the No. 1 reporter in Italy, a soccer genius, isn't nervous one bit. Does this look like someone scared of Croatia?

Absolutely not! Look, I made a promise that any time Giusy Meloni is in the news it will be on this blog. It's why I majored in Journalism. It's why 7 years ago I left my office job to do this full time. For moments like this. For chances to blog when Giusy Meloni is in the news and tying it to sports. So with Italy, the reigning Euro champs, needing a point to be safe all eyes turn on those who know the feeling of the team the best. If Giusy was nervous she wouldn't be posting a picture smiling and waving. No, it'd be radio silent. So let it be said, there are no nerves in the great country of Italy and from Italians - real Italians too, not those in the US who like to scream about Italy.
