The Phillies Have A Legitimate Chance To Send The Most Players To The All-Star Game In MLB History

MLB - The top two vote-getters at each position (and the top six outfielders) in each league will be revealed on MLB Network at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 27. The leading vote-getter in each league will receive an automatic spot in their team’s starting lineup while the other top vote-getters will advance to Phase 2 of voting. If an outfielder is a league’s leading vote-getter, only the next four outfield finalists will move on to Phase 2 to determine who starts at the two remaining spots. Phase 2 will begin at noon ET on Sunday, June 30, and continue until noon ET on Wednesday, July 3. During this four-day window, fans can vote only once per 24-hour period on MLB platforms for whom they want to see in the Midsummer Classic. Vote totals from Phase 1 don’t carry over. The winners at each position (including three outfielders in each league) will be revealed on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET on July 3. The pitchers and reserves for both squads -- totaling 23 players for each side -- will be determined via “Player Ballot” choices and selections made by the Commissioner’s Office. The complete All-Star rosters will be announced at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN on Sunday, July 7.

Ho diddlily hum, folks. The best team in the game is currently dominating the NL All-Star voting. Nothing to see here besides a special year continuing to be formed in lieu of injuries/God trying to ruin it all.

Bryce Harper is leading his league in voting because of course he is. Alec Bohm aka Jaffe aka tghe RBI machine is becoming a household name leading the league with 3B votes and holding the THIRD most overall votes in the NL. Trea Turner has been hurt most of the year and still has the second most at shortstop. JT Realmuto is currently going under the knife on his knee but still has second most at catcher. And all three of the regular starting OF are represented on the ballot with Castellanos and Marsh leading the way. That means 6 Phillies are in "Phase 2" of the voting. But keep in mind pitchers aren't voted in - they're selected. And pitching is this 2024 Phillies forte. Right now you've got 5 separate pitchers that are worthy of making the Summer Classic, including a choice of two that could be starting the damn game:

Zack Wheeler

Ranger Suarez

Aaron Nola

Matt Strahm

Jeff Hoffman

Me no math or even right good, but I count a solid 11 players that have a legit chance to make the NL All-Star Team. Gone are the days where Philadelphia legends Pat Neschek, Odubell Herrara, and Wayne Twitchell were the lone, mandatory representatives for The Fightens. The record for most players picked from a single team is 9 from the 1958 Yankees and then 8 from the '97 and '03 Braves. The Phillies are right there. Will the 11 players mentioned make it? God no. Especially since Topper ain't the manager this year. But it might be close. And for that, we are thankful for meaningful, nay, AMAZING Summer baseball back in South Philly.

Go Phils. After arguably the toughest stretch from Philly for the entire season, this team is ready to be settled at home vs. the Padres. The Rob Thomson Revenge game is this evening. On his signal, unleash hell.
