The Videos Coming Out of The Young Thug RICO Trial Just Keep Getting More Ridiculous

I really should have been blogging this Young Thug trial from the jump. For me, this trial is a classic example of a story that I didn't pay attention to at first, but then as time went on and I started seeing the videos I thought to myself, "Well I'm too late to the party to start paying attention now..."

But then months go by and the videos keep rolling in. They seem to be getting crazier and crazier. And I'm just sitting here watching them thinking to myself, "Damn.. this shit seems interesting... I really wish I would have been paying attention to this the whole time."

Then I Google something like, "Young Thug trial explained in less than 5 minutes". I skim a few articles, but I don't actually learn anything. Then I get distracted by some other bullshit on Twitter and forget about the whole thing until a few days later when I come across another Young Thug trial video that I don't understand because I'm not plugged into the trial enough. 

The video embedded to the top of this blog from yesterday is maybe the most ridiculous one yet. Young Thug's defense attorney somehow learned that the judge, the prosecution, and a "star witness" had a secret meeting in the judges chambers. Which could be considered coercion. So Young Thug's lawyer called them out for in court. But instead of addressing what actually happened, the judge demanded that Young Thug's lawyer reveals how he obtained this information. His lawyer refused to give up his source, so the judge held him in contempt of court and sentenced him to 20 days in jail (to be served on weekends).

Note: The district attorney over this case. The one who met with the judge and witness... is none other than Fani Willis. Fani Willis is also the district attorney who prosecuted Donald Trump. Make what you will out of that.

Anyways, my main takeaway from this is that Young Thug's lawyer rules. Any lawyer who is willing to go to jail for you is an awesome lawyer. I'd have him represent me in a RICO trial any day. 

I admittedly don't know a ton about what's actually happening in this trial. I really just know the basics. In case you're completely in the dark, here's the gist of what Young Thug has going against him.

In May 2022, Young Thug and an additional 27 members of his YSL gang  were indicted on 56 counts of racketeering. I always thought YSL was just some bullshit fake gang acronym Young Thug used in raps to make himself seem hard. But allegedly it's more than that. The state of Georgia alleges that YSL (Young Stoner Life) is a violent street gang who's violent street gang history dates back to 2012. Apparently they're responsible for a whole slew of murders, robberies, carjackings, assaults, having a shit load of illegal firearms, selling a shit load of drugs, etc. Young Thug is allegedly the brain behind the entire YSL operation.

A month after being arrested, Young Thug was denied bail. So he's been there since June 2022. The trial didn't even start until well over a year later in November 2023. 

The grand jury indictment alleges 182-instanges of YSL participating in "street gang activity". One of the main points of contention is that the grand jury is allowed to use Young Thug's rap lyrics against him. Their whole (or at least a large part of their case), hinges on being able to cite Young Thug's rap lyrics are fact. According to his lyrics, Young Thug is guilty of about every fucking gang related "thing" under the sun. But Young Thug and his constituents will tell you that his music is merely a form of artistic expression. Meaning when Thugger raps things like, "I never killed anybody, but I got something to do with that body" or "I shot at hid mommy, now he no longer mention me", he is simply "full of shit" and never did any of the cool illegal things he claims he did. 

I'd be remiss to not mention that Young Thug and the rest of the YSL gang friendly music group (?), urge you to sign the "Protect Black Art" petition, so that musical artists are free to express themselves without threat of having their own words used against them in a court of law

Either way, as a result, Young Thug's music has been playing all throughout the trial. Which has giving us heartwarming moments such as these

There has been so much stupid shit that has happened during the course of this trail. For example, at one point during the trial, a member of the prosecution was accused of sexually harassing a witness. A witness outed investigator Rasheed Hamilton for sending her a text the said, "Hit me up with you're bored later. We're not going to talk shop". He had also apparently asked the witness on a date while they were in the middle of discussing her testimony. And at another point, one of Young Thugs lawyers was arrested for tampering evidence in an entirely different gang related case. 

But that doesn't even scratch the surface. I'm not even sure where to begin. Or where to go with this at all. So I'm simply going to share some of the videos coming out of this trial, and let you enjoy them for yourselves.

My personal favorite video comes from early on in this case when mid-court one of Young Thugs many co-defendents tried to slip him some sort of drug (I believe it was a Percocet), in the middle of the court room. He was instantly busted.

There was a time where people thought Lil Wayne was going to make an appearance on the stand. Apparently he was a integral part of this case. But it seems as if that is no longer happening

The witnesses in general, and every person who has been called to the stand to testify in one way or another have essentially been cartoon characters. 

Apparently there's a whole fucking debate about what certain YSL terms actually mean. (YSL, THUG, SLIME,etc.) Every word that Young Thug has ever uttered seems to be some sort of gang related acronym, and the prosecuting attorneys seem to be spending a majority of their time trying to get to the bottom of them.

YSL member Walter DK Murphy, who I've seen referred to as Young Thug's best friend, revealed that he has Young Thug's daughter's name tattooed on his face? I think?

Honestly the videos go on forever. I have no clue what direction this trial is trending. The whole thing looks like a clown show. The witnesses, are again, complete cartoon characters. All of which who are putting on a master class of avoiding answering questions.

All while Young Thug just stands in the back of the courtroom itching his balls.

I still don't know exactly what's happening in this case, or what direction this is trending. I'm afraid I've failed you in that regard. I really just wanted to share with you all the nonsense videos I've been seeing that come out of the Young Thug trial. But since I'm a fan of his music, I'm inclined to say #FreeYoungThug (unless he's actually guilty of doing really bad things… which I guess he probably is… so in that case lock him up… but if you lock him up please let him keep making music because I really enjoy his work….)
