Rico Bosco Got Annihilated By Gus In A Men League's Basketball Game

You could argue that the biggest basketball game of the week went down last night between Team Kirk Minihane Show and Team Barstool New York. Because you simply cannot replicate the intensity of a men's league game in any sport. Every single game is treated like it's game 7 of the Finals because when you're playing men's league, you truly never know if that game is going to be your last.

For our good pal Rico Bosco, he may have just played in the final basketball game of his career.

People don't understand how difficult it is to have a long, storied career in men's league athletics. Because practically every single night, you either have to play against a bunch of scumbags who are just out there to take out their frustrations, or guys who go way too hard at 9pm in an empty gym. You're just trying to get a nice little run in, and here comes Tommy TryHard treating this game like the bleachers are filled with NBA scouts all there to offer him a contract. At some point or another, you're going to get hurt playing against guys like that. And the moment you suffer an injury playing in men's league sports, that's when you know it's time to hang 'em up for good.

Now I'm a total outsider on this whole situation. I'm not in the New York office so I don't exactly know how things go over there. But I'd have to imagine that most people would just assume that Rico would take on the enforcer role for that squad. So it's always tough when your enforcer is the one who ends up going down courtesy of a cheap shot. At that point, you need someone else to step up and take that enforcer responsibility by getting in someone's kitchen after a cheap shot like that.

You see Billy Football run in there to grab Rico, but that was more celebratory after the bucket dropped. Instead of going after Gus for taking out his guy, Billy wraps up Rico and pulls him away from the donnybrook. At least it's something, but he's grabbing the wrong guy.

It's just a shame to see Tommy Smokes completely remove himself from the situation with his hands up instead of coming to the defense of Rico. Especially considering that Tommy packs the meanest punch out of anyone on that floor.

Maybe there's a lack of team cohesion. Maybe that locker room isn't fully together. But all I know is that if your guy is getting table topped out there, you need to do something about it. This is men's league athletics we're talking about here. Everybody has to go to work the next day. You can't just allow things like that to go down without at least getting into a pushing and shoving match.

Moral of the story--Barstool New York team needs a few more enforcers on the squad. They may have won the game, but it's going to be hard to win a series playing like that.

Pray for Rico Bosco (apparently he is pretty banged up)
