Clemson OF Cam Cannarella Had Maybe the Best Two-Inning Stretch in Baseball History With a Game-Tying, 3-Run Homer Followed by an Unreal Game-Saving Catch

If someone has ever had a better two innings in baseball than what Cam Cannarella pulled off for Clemson this afternoon, I'd sure like to see it because this kid has balls of steel and had to pull them out twice to keep the Tigers' season alive.

Clemson came into Sunday down 1-0 in its best-of-three Super Regional against Florida, so a loss today would send CU packing. In the ninth inning with the Tigers down to their final two outs, Cannarella launched a three-run homer to keep the game going and hopefully get Clemson to extras. That would have been a big enough hit to be the best player of a lot of players' careers.

That lasted as Cannarella's best moment in a Tigers uniform for about 15 minutes, until he made a Willie Mays-esque catch while airborne and about to take a hit from the center field wall. The home run was awesome, but this catch is unbelievable. Cannarella is looking for the ball over his shoulder while in a dead sprint in an outfield where the "warning track" is a hill leading up to the wall. And while Clemson could have theoretically still tied the game if Cannarella hadn't hit his home run in the ninth, Florida is headed to the College World Series if that ball isn't caught. What an unbelievable play.

If Clemson is able to pull this one out and force a Game 3, everyone in that dugout owes Cam Cannarella a steak dinner.
