This Report That The Vikings Were Going To Trade Up For Malik Nabers, Then Trade Justin Jefferson Doesn't Make Any Damn Sense
What the hell is happening here? Just to make it make sense, the Vikings, who at the time didn't have a starting quarterback, thought about trading Justin Jefferson just so they could trade up for Malik Nabers? Well, that'd be as dumb as anything we've seen in a long time. I know there's the whole you gotta pay Justin Jefferson thing, but we're talking about one of the elite wide receivers in the game here. This isn't some nobody, some guy who isn't proven or anything like that. Justin Jefferson fucking rules.
I understand this part of it all:
But the Vikings didn't have a QB1 at the time. So you can't even use that theory for this sort of report. Sure, if you want to say the Vikings listened to an offer, I'd believe that. You should listen to an offer for basically any single player outside of like Patrick Mahomes right now. But I don't understand the reasoning of trading your best player for the potential of a WR1 (as a Giants fan, I'm begging you Malik Nabers to be awesome) without a quarterback.
I get that football is different than basketball in the sense of one great player doesn't mean you're set. But I'm also a firm believer that you want to keep awesome players. Call me crazy, but that seems to be a good method to have if you want to win. Obviously none of this happened because the trade up for Nabers fell through, but even the idea of this report doesn't make any damn sense.
