Kick Off Memorial Day Weekend Early With MTV True Life: I Have A Summer Share Featuring Tommy Cheeseballs

For damn near a decade, I bookended the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends by blogging about True Life: I Have A Summer Share for all the people that never saw it in its glory during that magical time of the early 2000s. It starred Tommy Cheeseballs, who in my opinion was the greatest TV character ever.

As the years have past, the records of this show have vanished from the internet following copyright lawsuits on YouTube, with this clip being the last remnants still online. Once that goes down, this classic will be lost to history to a generation that only knows MTV as the channel that plays Chanel West Coast laughing like a hyena on Ridiculousness at least 20 hours a day instead of the channel responsible for countless moments in pop culture for 30+ years.

For the people that know about the legend of Tommy Cheeseballs, enjoy the reminders of a simpler, more ridiculous time. For the young’ns that don’t, Tommy and his friends were the world’s introduction to the Jersey Shore long before phrases like Gorilla Juiceheads, Grenades, and Gym/Tan/Laundry came into our lives. For the few Barstool readers that are too young to even remember Jersey Shore, I hate you for making me feel ancient. JK, there is nobody young enough to not know Jersey Shore that actually reads stuff on the internet unless it's a TikTok caption.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. It may be more than a decade old, but the Tommy Cheeseballs episode of True Life is unintentional comedy at its peak that still holds up to this day. From steak sangwiches to Goodfellas pregames to burps from the bottom of a man’s balls it is all pure fucking gold. Tommy isn’t the only star. Far from it. Before we had Snooki, J-Woww and Paulie D we had Anthony, Michelle H. and Michelle F, and the rest of Tommy’s misfit friends showing people around the country that never stepped foot in the Northeast just how ABSURD the Jersey Shore could be with some fantastic early 2000s bangers playing in the background and the stereotypical Cowboys garbage pail that I think every Italian Cowboys fan from New Jersey owned.

I don't know how much longer this blog will run for since clips of the show are getting harder and harder to find. But since we have something to kick off the glorious time between Memorial Day and Labor Day known as summer CheeseballsSZN, we might as well let our worries wash away with fist pumps.

Now play us out Thomas!
