Heat (FULL MOVIE)

Heat - Academy Award® winners Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino head a stellar cast in this taut psychological drama about an obsessive detective and a brilliant thief whose fates are linked in the aftermath of a high-stakes securities heist. As the criminal plans his final heist, their personal lives begin to unravel as they engage in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, leading the adversaries to come to hate and respect one another.

I was recently researching a longer-form piece on Livvy Dunne/Paul Skenes when I got caught up watching HEAT again. Only this time it’s free on YouTube so I figured I’d share.

And trust me, I couldn’t believe it either.

I also can’t remember the last time I got Shawshanked. It’s been years not including Paul Walker Memorial Rewatches every September 12th.

Troy comes to mind, vaguely. I know there’s an AMC 3.5 hour cut of True Lies mixed in there somewhere. But otherwise I can't recall the last time I tasted raw shank like Heat.

Pacino rocks here. DeNiro is classic DeNiro.

What really drives the story is the stakes. They're constantly being raised at each and every moment amidst the backdrop of the greater LA metropolitan area. The setting and cinematography are all masterful. Soundtrack also underrated and while on topic, the sound editing? Really impressive. So much machine gun fire burst and I don't think they missed a single bullet on the full render.

Movies were different then. Better? I didn't say that. I said different.

They're different, and on that alone, they should be remembered. ESPECIALLY Heat.
