The Dream Life: Jared Goff Gets A $212 Million Contract Extension, Becomes The Highest Paid Lions Player Ever

I know it always comes down to guaranteed money, but $170 million ain't too shabby. Sure, it's not $212 million, but life is still pretty damn awesome at this point. Look at the run Jared Goff is on and he's up there on the shortlist for a guy you want to trade lives with. Former No. 1 pick, made a Super Bowl, gets dumped to Detroit, leads a revival of Lions football, gets to marry Christen Harper, elite in fashion.

He went from the scapegoat with the Rams. Everyone saying they can't win the Super Bowl with him, needed a different quarterback and you know what? That trade was one of the ones that you can say worked out for everyone. The Rams got their Super Bowl, that's all that mattered to them. The Lions got a starting quarterback, a guy who embraced Detroit and are keeping the group together.

I have no idea if the Lions are ever going to make a Super Bowl, but I do know they were pretty damn good a year ago. Why not run it back? Everyone is overpaid at the quarterback position, so you can't even really make that argument. The only person who is underpaid is Patrick Mahomes at this point.

But I mean the dude has the city of Detroit in the palm of his hand. If he plays decent football, he's going to go down as one of the most beloved players in Lions history. There's a reason grown men were crying during a playoff win a year ago, and I'm talking about grown men who are real fans in the stadium crying. Not just on Twitter for views or anything like that. Pretty ridiculous turnaround for a guy who everyone thought Detroit would give up on and draft someone a couple years ago. Not a bad life at all.
