Tim Anderson Has Been Very, Very Bad Ever Since José Ramírez Punched Him In The Face

Our Barstool Gambling account tweeted this out the other day and it was at that point I realized that I had forgotten about Tim Anderson. He's a former All Star and that guy who hit the home run off Britton into the corn in Iowa, an absolute hitting machine. Then he got his world rocked by José Ramírez last August and he just hasn't been the same since.

August 5th, 2023 to be exact. And since then Tim Anderson has been dog water. He's free from the pain and horror of the Chicago White Sox but now he's stuck with the pain and horror of being a Miami Marlin. He's hitting a measly .236 in the 250 at-bats since he got his face rearranged with 0 home runs to go along with it. This season alone he's hitting .203 with 6 RBIs, 9 runs, an OBP of .242 3 extra base hits. Woof.

How did this guy fall off so hard so quick? This isn't just a slump either, it's an extended period of time, a big sample size. He was an All-Star 2 years ago! 2! From 2019 to 2022 he was one of the best offensive shortstops in baseball. Now he's hitting .203 for the Marlins just 4 seasons after having a top 10 MVP finish. Did Ramirez's punch take all his powers like in Space Jam? It's bizarre to see someone just fall off a cliff. Look at his Baseball Savant page too, looks like an Eifel 65 hit list, all blue.

30 years old and he's cooked. As cooked as cooked can get. There's a decent chance he doesn't even get a big league deal next year either at this rate. It is wild that we saw a former All-Star get the talent punched right out of him in front of your very eyes. Miami is no place to revive your career if you ask me, so unless he's moved this may be it for Anderson.
