We Finally Got Our First Look At David Corenswet As Superman

Suit reveals are becoming more and more common in the superhero movie industry (largely to prevent set photos from paparazzi leaking and giving us our first look at the attire in poor lighting) and James Gunn has revealed his Superman - David Corenswet, in the full Kryptonian costume - to get ahead of that today! This likely means we'll be seeing more of him very soon, as I'm sure outdoor scenes are on the horizon - and I think he looks fantastic as Kal-El.

He's obviously got the Kingdom Come inspired S on his chest, which we knew already....

I like this because I think it's more believable as a Kryptonion symbol that humans misread as an "S", and then they could name him 'Superman' because of that - and eventually, a normal "S" can represent him embracing his place in the world.

Corenswet's Superman suit also has a collar, which is a very new-age Superman thing that I love….

….and most importantly, he's got the red undies and belt back!

It's funny that the spandex outer-underwear of superheroes is always a back-and-forth debate when it comes to live action adaptations, but I'm almost always in favor of it. If I'm suspending my disbelief enough to believe a man could fly, I could buy into that man having some weird fashion choices. No half measures!

I really like the Man of Steel suit for the most part, but without the red undies, it just sorta looks like pajamas or something….

I also love how vibrant the boots on the new suit are. It feels like a direct response to the muted tones of the Snyderverse.

I'm excited to see Lex Luthor and Lois Lane next - I love the casting of both Nicholas Hoult and Rachel Brosnahan respectively, and think they're gonna crush it. I also just read 'Superman: For All Seasons' which will reportedly be a basis for the "feel" of this movie, and it heavily features both Lex and Lois which only made me more excited for next Summer. I'd highly recommend both that book and 'All Star Superman' for anyone looking to get into some Superman comics before James Gunn drops this masterpiece on us.

Hopefully we'll get a teaser trailer in the next few months!
