The Bo Nix Pick Keeps Getting Weirder: The Broncos GM, CEO And Sean Payton Apparently Didn't Tell The Rest Of The Draft Room What QB They Wanted

I gotta admit, I love that we keep getting some weird ass story within the Bo Nix pick. It's not a shock the Broncos took him, people were just more stunned they took him at 12. Again, it's all a guessing game, we don't know if Nix is going to be good or not. We don't even know if any of the 5 quarterbacks who went before him are going to be better. But without a doubt the Bo Nix pick is the weirdest because of all the stories out of it. We had the backpack story:

We had Sean Payton trying to gloat that he baited the Vikings into trading up a spot to get JJ McCarthy

And now there's this story of a small group of people knowing their preference for quarterbacks. What's the point of a scout here? I get maybe you don't tell everyone, but if you're in a war room together, I assume you all should be on the same page. Yeah these three guys have the last call, but what's the point of hiding it from other people around you? That scared of having a mole? You may have a bigger issue if that's the case.

Again, if you think Nix is the guy, fine. Take him. That's the whole point of the Draft. But the stories coming out from it just make the Broncos look dumb. You don't justify it by the backpack story. You don't have stories about how they kept it a secret. Somehow the Bo Nix pick is coming out weirder than Michael Penix and everyone made fun of the Penix pick.

I do love the idea of this small group sitting around planning the scheme of putting up a random order to throw everyone off. That's how you keep a secret. It's for sure not overthinking every single part of making a pick at all. I also hope these stories never stop coming out. Just make it as weird as possible.
