The Official Trailer For The Upcoming FX Show "Clipped" About The Donald Sterling Saga Has Finally Dropped

I'm not sure if I simply forgot this project was happening, but hell yes! 

As someone who couldn't really enjoy "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty" for obvious reasons, I'm all for a show that dives into the entire Donald Sterling saga. Remember how insane that was? I dunno about anyone else, but the fact that everything went down 10 years ago is really screwing with my head. Even all these years later, quarantine really messed up my concept of time. That was the quickest 10 years of all time.

You put Ed O'Neill (who are we kidding, he's Al Bundy) in pretty anything and I'm in. Old school 90s TV, Modern Family, playing dickhead Donald Sterling, I'm in. Laurence Fishburne as Doc? Yup, that works for me too. James Shanklin is cast to play Steve Ballmer, and I think that'll play as well. In terms of the trailer, it definitely seems worth a watch, and I say that mostly because I have blind faith in FX. These types of projects can be hit or miss, but when they are good, they are goooood. Remember Playmakers on ESPN? That was must watch stuff. Hopefully, this is somehow closer to that.

The funny part of this coming out now is if you remember, all of the Donald Sterling stuff came out right as the Clippers were in the middle of a first round playoff series (Game 5). It was for obvious reasons a huge distraction, and Doc was pretty vocal in the years after about what an impact it had on everyone. Now how much of that is your typical Doc spinzone for his team losing in 6 is up for you to decide, but given how big of a story it was I don't think it's crazy to suggest that it played a role to some degree,

Now here we are 10 years later, with the Clippers locked in a tough first round playoff series against the Mavs, and here's the official trailer for the show about Sterling. While it shouldn't be, it also wouldn't shock me if this is somewhat of a distraction. I'm sure someone will ask the players about it at some point, even if none of them were even there when it all happened. Part of me feels like this was intentional, but what do I know. There's just something funny to me about the incident happening in the first round, and then the trailer coming out while the Clippers are once again playing in the first round. 

I will say though, if we don't get a scene that covers this part of Sterling's deposition

then why even make the show in the first place.
