Chip Kelly Opened Ohio State's Spring Game With A Tribute To Woody Hayes....And Says The Buckeyes Will Run Some T-Formation This Year

So I'll admit that I was born almost a decade after Woody Hayes died, so while I know a little bit about the 205 wins, 3 National Titles, 13 Big Ten Championships, and 8 Rose Bowl appearances he had at Ohio State, I don't know too much about the formations he ran. Like yeah, "3 yards and a cloud of dust" is the first thing that pops into my mind, but when the Buckeyes came out in the T-Formation on the first play of their nationally televised Spring Game this Saturday, I thought it was because of our player personnel....not a tribute. Especially when we did that little 5 person spin around thing.

That's how you earn your pinstripes, Chip! I didn't see any T-Formation the last three years when Michigan was kicking our teeth in. In fact, I saw zero toughness whatsoever. And I'm not saying spread Chip Kelly is the guy to come in and instill the mental and physical toughness that this program has been desperately lacking since Urban Meyer left, but taking us back to our roots is a pretty good place to start. I would like to see some of the things 7-0 Urban used to do (in more than just offensive play calls), but I will settle for a little of "pushed my gas across the state border because I won't spend a dime in Michigan" Woody Hayes.

I know Chip Kelly said we might see some of this in short-yardage situations this year, but someone needs to explain to my dumb brain why we can't see this in all situations this year. At the end of the day, we have two of the best, if not the best two, running backs in the entire country. Can't we just sit these two back there and let our big dogs eat?

Maybe the reason is because of offensive line stinks and while we can beat the Marylands and Penn States of the world, we get bullied at the end of November against Michigan. Wouldn't it be nice to run the ball down their throats for a change? We've got the horses in the backfield to do it. We just need to get some Men on the line.
