Ole Miss DB Brandon Turnage Might Be Able To Save the NBA Dunk Contest

The Ole Miss football team put together a better dunk contest as part of its spring game than anything the NBA has done in the better part of a decade. And Mac McClung better watch his back, because he may have just lost his annual All-Star Weekend invitation to Rebels DB Brandon Turnage.

That's a legitimately nasty dunk. I went back and watched this year's NBA Dunk Contest — for the first time, because watching that live is completely useless now — and there were a handful of dunks that weren't as good as Turnage's. The NBA is getting outdone by college football players.

This clip is cool and all, but it really just makes me want to plead harder for spring games to be scrimmages against other teams. None of the current intrasquad games are anything close to real action and then you have teams like Ole Miss doing dunk contests. Imagine if this Saturday featured Tennessee-Memphis, Alabama-UAB and Ole Miss-Southern Miss. Keep the quarterbacks non-contact and otherwise, go play football. Fuck, that would be awesome.

Maybe we'll get something like that when the SEC and Big Ten break off and form the College Football Super League. Until then, enjoy the dunk contests.
