Rico Recommends: The Seven Five Documentary

I feel like we're always asking those in circles "got any good programs?" which of course for those who don't speak Fluent Bosco ... means "are there any good shows or movies you have watched?" I get very tired of scrolling through these apps with stuff I don't want to watch (hot take you should be able to remove things you never want to watch on these apps) and end up just putting on something I have already watched. It's a frustrating experience. Instead I wish I had a rolodex of stuff to watch via recommendations from friends.

It is with that hope that people read this and remember when scrolling to watch something the name of this doc, and fire it up instead of aimlessly scrolling. I know it's 10 years old now, but not everyone has seen everything and I stand by the fact this is worth it... and then some.

Here's the cliff notes description:

Wikipedia - The Seven Five, also known as Seven Five Precinct, is a 2014 documentary directed by Tiller Russell, and produced by Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, and Sheldon Yellen. The film looks at police corruption in the 75th precinct of the New York Police Department during the 1980s. The documentary focuses on Michael Dowd and Patrick Eugene McKenna both corrupt DEA agents under cover for 10 years, who were arrested in 1987 leading to one of the largest police corruption scandals in New York City history. The documentary uses footage from the Mollen Commission investigation in 1992 and also provides in-depth commentary from Dowd, Ken Eurell, and Adam Diaz, among others. The documentary premiered at DOC NYC November 14, 2014.

They are called the dirtiest cops in America and while it stands against everything that makes the department great, and is a minuscule representation of the great people who serve and protect the city, you cannot stop watching. The lead character Michael Dowd is speaking 100 miles an hour while retelling stories of robbing drug dealers and getting rich illegally. The side characters like  "Chicky" are all out of central casting. It's a who's who of wacky characters, and a one of a kind story. If you are looking for something to watch, this doc is one I would strongly strongly recommend.
