Drea de Matteo Explained to Her Son the Need to 'Show My Ass' on OnlyFans in the Most Responsible, Motherly Way Imaginable

If hundreds of episodes of VH1's Behind the Music and E! True Hollywood Story taught us anything, it's that the entertainment industry is a tough racket. One that is not for the faint of heart. You can be a respected star of one of the most acclaimed TV series of all time with a legion of devoted fanboys one day, and the next find yourself years later having to do softcore porn just to pay your bills:

Or you can have an interview show on the top cable sports network in all the land, only to find yourself fired and catching verbal stray bullets fired from the decayed brain of a forgotten, unhinged, rageholic misanthrope for no reason:

That, as they say, is showbiz. 

So it warmed the heart to see the entertainers in question, Drea de Matteo and Sage Steele sit down for a little girl chat on the latter's podcast:

And as one would hope, it didn't take long for things to get pret-tay, pret-tay candid:

Source - “Sopranos” star Drea de Matteo joked she had to put her 12-year-old son, Waylon, “in his place” when he expressed dismay over her lucrative OnlyFans career.  

“‘Do you like that jacket you just asked me to buy you?'” De Matteo recalled asking him on Wednesday’s episode of “The Sage Steele Show.”

“‘You like all the things that you want that make you happy? You like that new PC that you begged for for Christmas? Because you wouldn’t have that s – – t if Mommy didn’t show her ass!” she laughed. …

“That shuts him up because he’s a little greedy little bastard, too, sometimes. I mean, he’s 12, you know?”

And there you have it. Drea proving she is not just a fine actress and (I assume) a world class OnlyFans content provider, she's an amazing parent as well. 

This, my friends, is what we in parenting call "a teachable moment." And she handled it not only with a great life lesson, but also with grace and elegance. 

Now, my sainted mother worked as a telephone operator in order to keep me clothed and fulfill the requests on my Christmas list. Also, we never had a conversation that mentioned her ass or even acknowledged its existence. She was more of the old school Irish Catholic type who taught me that we all have our biological needs and bodily functions. And it was important that we treat all of them with the same degree of shame and embarrassment. And that approached served us both just fine, thank you very much. 

Still, I'm sure there were times I tried to guilt her about whatever. Having to go to work. Working holidays. Not being there to cater to my every whim. Just like de Matteo's son tried to shame her. Just without the millions of strangers pleasuring themselves to naked images of her. But the same principle applies. 

So Drea could not have been more right to shut that right the fuck down. To use her own words, to put that "little greedy bastard" "in his place." Like any responsible parent should. To teach him, "Hey kid, the world doesn't revolve around you. Men want to send your mother money to see her butt and some areola. Your PC isn't going pay for itself. And there's no Sopranos: The Next Generation in the works. So shut yer yap and be grateful mom still has what it takes to give you the finer things in life."

And on behalf of parents everywhere, I thank her. We're now two full generations since Harry Chapin's mauldin "Cats in the Cradle" made it so no one can sacrifice their own needs to provide for their families in this world without being made to feel like neglectful, irresponsible abusers. By handling her situation this way, Drea de Matteo not only taught her 12-year-old a much needed lesson, she taught one to all of us.
