The Decision (Again): Bronny James Is Leaving USC To Enter The NBA Draft, But Also The Transfer Portal So He Can Maybe Play At Duquesne

First off, justice for Dick Weiss! The legendary hoops writer who may or may not get duped by fake accounts on a weekly basis and may or may not tweet out breaking news a week later was all over this. It doesn't matter how he got his info, he tweeted out that Bronny was in the transfer portal before anyone else and he was mocked!

Now as for this news? Uh, no shit. That's basically how I feel about it. Bronny was always expected to leave college after a year, or at least attempt to, because everyone assumes it'll be a package deal in the NBA. You want a chance to have LeBron on your team, you sign Bronny. Also no shit people will question it because Bronny wasn't awesome this year. Can you really blame him? The kid suffered cardiac arrest before the season started.

I would make fun of a James family member leaving a team after a year, but Andy Enfield did get fired. I care more about my consistency about not caring that kids transfer more. Credit to me there. I fully expect him to be tied to an NBA team though. Teams will 100% take a shot on him in hoping to land LeBron. But it's also hilarious that a dude who is being tied to transferring to Duquesne is also being linked to NBA teams. That's, uh, rare to say the least.

I get it, Dru Joyce is the new coach of Duquesne. There are ties to the James family and all that. But I don't really remember too many guys who transfer down from a school like USC to Duquesne and being talked about as an NBA prospect, especially one who played meaningful minutes for a major school like that. But come on, this has to be a lie right

"LeBron wants Bronny to be his own man," Paul told ESPN in March.

We've heard this before

Everyone knows that Bronny James is LeBron Jr. Plus, just be normal. Every dad would want to play with their kid in the big leagues. That's the most normal thing a dad could ever want. I dream of one day blogging about random shit with my two sons. Family business type deal - I'm self-aware to know my two boys have no shot of the pros, just like I didn't.

Real question is what team do we think says fuck it we're gonna try this out? Pistons with a late 2nd round pick seem like it's screaming to happen. Maybe the Thunder with one of their 430 picks take him and basically hold him for a trade to a team who can actually go after LeBron? That seems likely. The Thunder are smart like that plus they already have a group who they want to keep together. It's either that or Duquesne. Set up the TV cameras.
