A Group Of Thieves Are On The Run After Stealing $30 MILLION In Cash From A "Money Storage Facility" In California

Source - The Los Angeles Police Department and FBI are investigating the theft of tens of millions of dollars in cash from a money storage facility in what appears to be the largest heist in Los Angeles history.

A law enforcement source familiar with the investigation confirms with CBS News that the heist took place at GardaWorld in Sylmar on Easter Sunday, with as much as $30 million stolen. The source says it appears to be a sophisticated operation.

The source told CBS News that burglars broke through the building's roof and gained access to the vault without triggering the facility's alarm system.

The business stores and handles large amounts of cash for other businesses, and the burglary was not discovered until Monday, when employees opened the vault.

No arrests have been made yet and a manhunt is underway for the those responsible.

Okay I have questions. First of all, there are "money storage facilities" that aren't banks? That's a thing? I've never heard of that in my life. Sketchy. Second, if your job is to hold tens of millions of dollars worth of cash, don't you think you should have an alarm system sophisticated enough to protect that cash? Sketchy again. And third...this was 1000% an inside job. Criminals are idiots. This isn't Ocean's 11. This is real life. It would take a tremendous amount of information and knowledge to bypass even the shittiest alarm system to pull this off. For those of you who aren't following, I encourage you to watch this scene from the 1999 blockbuster "Blue Streak" staring Martin Short and Luke Wilson...

See? Inside job.

Here's a video with some footage of the actual facility to give you an idea of what they were up against...

The police also have zero leads. To be honest if this wasn't an inside job I want them to get away. They put in the time, they figured it out, they deserve everything they got. Same goes for if they get caught. The hard part is over, now it's just about laying low and not pulling a Johnny Roastbeef from Good Fellas. Time will tell but if history is any indication these guys will be behind bars by the end of the summer. Enjoy it while you can, gentlemen. Your days are numbered.
