PR 101: St. Bonaventure's President Put Out One Of The More Bizarre Videos Apologizing To Fans For Turning Down The NIT

I can't stop laughing at how ridiculous this video is. Dude looks like he's part of a hostage video forced to apologize to the dozens and dozens of fans (and Tom Crean) who are pissed off that St. Bonaventure turned down an NIT invite. It's truly one of the most bizarre videos I've seen considering, you know, no one was talking about it. There was the one graphic that showed all the teams who turned down invites, that's the only time I heard about St. Bonaventure not playing in the event. There wasn't an uproar from fans on Twitter and trust me I'm far too deep in the A-10 twitter weeds than I care to admit. They are JV Big East Twitter in the sense of being absolute lunatics just on a smaller scale. 

Why do we even have the NIT these days? It doesn't matter anymore. No one cares about the NIT. No one goes crazy celebrating an NIT. I guess you can make an argument it's for a chance to have guys play more? That's really the only positive here. Shit, even the NCAA doesn't care about the NIT. They tried to ruin it this past season by giving more bids to the power conferences and make it harder for mid-majors to get in. They changed the rules! 

Gotta hand it to the President here though. He made a story out of nothing. That's content 101. That's PR 101. Get ahead of the story before the non-story ever becomes a thing. Now all I have seen on Twitter this afternoon is asking if Woj is holding him hostage. People are buzzin about St. Bonaventure for no reason at all. Sure, they might be making jokes about St. Bonaventure, but it's got the people going. Good news is he has 1 new fan. Tom Crean, a man who was near tears talking about how stupid it was for teams to turn down the NIT. That's all that matters. You got Crean.
