The NFL Draft Is In One Month And The Washington Commanders Are On The Clock

I'd like to make a brief note to start this blog: the Chicago Bears are so, so lucky to have Ryan Poles leading this organization. In the years that followed Lovie Smith, the organization found itself in just an embarrassing state year over year. From Emery to Pace to Nagy to Trestman, it was just a waterfall of never ending pathetic-ness.

Not anymore though - the NFL draft is ONE MONTH from today and that's when Caleb Williams will officially be a Chicago Bear, much to the dismay of the army of Justin Fields stans on www.twitter.com.

Dude has freaky talent. FREAKY:

LET'S COOK!

Caleb Williams + DJ Moore + Keenan Allen + Cole Kmet + an improved OL and defense? And maybe ANOTHER playmaker at 9, assuming they don't trade down? Yeah, the Bears are in their best spot since like 2008. That's not to say that they can't fuck this up - they very much can, probably will, and there's no such thing as a "sure thing" at QB, but goddamn are things looking BRIGHT at this very moment.

It's almost scary to me.

And on that note, I'd like to address Justin Fields one last time. When he was traded on St. Patrick's Day last week,

Hoooolllllyyyyy SHIT did that tweet piss people off. I had a TON of people (aka like 5) in my DMs calling me a piece of shit, saying I don't know ball, saying I should choke on my green beer, whatever.

I don't care about that. What I care about is their inability to prove me wrong, because I don't think I was wrong with that statement.

At least not completely wrong. The Bears obviously put him in a bad position in his first few years with different HCs, coordinators, etc. He was also not any good once the roster had been built up a bit. A year ago it was "get Justin Fields a true WR1 to pair with Mooney and sink some $$$ and draft capital into the OL and watch him cook!"

They did that with Moore, Nate Davis and Darnell Wright. He still stunk (yes, stunk) and it was clear that it was time to move on from him. But some people REFUSE to admit that, even though they know that it's true deep down in their plums. Now they say, "get him a 2nd WR1, more OL help, a new OC* and watch him cook!"

They'll even talk about his finger nails, his bad game against ND and say that he's a prima donna all in the name of defending the guy who threw for 2 or more TDs in exactly ZERO games of the last 8 he started.

Trick me once, shame on you. Trick me twice….

He stunk for the most part. Get over it.  Some of that was on the Bears, most of that was on Fields. Williams will be better and dare I say, Williams will be great

And if he's not? I'll have no problem saying, "I was wrong, Williams sucks, get rid of him and find someone new."

Give me a break. The trade market didn't really lie either. It told us EXACTLY what other NFL organizations felt about him.

That's that though. Williams is gonna make all you clowns crying about Fields forget about him REALLY quickly. Until then, Washington is on the clock.

*This one is my favorite, since they also argue that Fields struggled because he dealt with too many playbooks. So how do they solve that? ANOTHER playbook!!!
