In True "Barstool Difference" Fashion, There Are A Bunch Of Misspellings On The Kobe Bryant Statue

Generally, I'm of the thought that it's more about telling and not spelling. I'm not going to sit here from an ivory tower and suggest there's never been a typo in one of my blogs. That's the Barstool difference that we all know and love. You don't correct your friends when you're shooting the shit you know? Same thing with the blog. You get the general idea, and that works.

However, there is a bit of a difference between a blog and the statue of KOBE BRYANT. Call me crazy, but that's something you need to run through spell check. Maybe have your Grammarly pulled up or something. Do whatever you have to do to make sure that you are spelling everyone and everything correctly, because once you start, there's no going back. That shit's there for life (unless there's some sort of stone work to change it, but I'm not a huge statue building guy so I can't say for sure).

What I want to know is at what point did the artist or really anyone notice? Am I crazy to think there's a template you use for stuff like that, and then you do the carving? I feel like that's the first moment you need to get as many eyes on it as possible. Before you do anything permanent, get a proofreader to look it over. I can understand being so close to your work you don't notice any mistakes. I mean, I write 3,000 word Celts blogs 3 times a week so I get it. And hey, maybe the artist wasn't the biggest Raptors/Jose Calderon fan so he had no idea. Plus, if we're being honest, when I just typed "Jose Calderon" for this paragraph, my fingers immediately typed "Jose Calderson" by accident. So now I sort of get what that artist may have been feeling. That "s" can really sneak its way in there.

Tough break for Von Wafer too. I know personally I'll never forget Von after he unleashed this dunk back in 2011. This shit ruled

So it's tough to see that play didn't leave the same amount of respect on his name for others as it did for me.

Fucking up "decision" for "decicion" is unfortunate, but the English language can be a real bitch sometimes. Different letters make the same sound, sometimes you emphasize a letter in one word but not another. Sometimes a letter is silent. It's a whole thing.

At this point, what do you do? Just leave it and embrace the screw up, or take them all down and just re-do the base? I feel like you have to redo it. There's no hiding it now and you can't leave a statue honoring Kobe Bryant out there with spelling errors, especially if the Lakers are a Grade A organization.

Somewhere you know Kobe is sitting there pissed. A perfectionist like that? No chance he lets that slide.
