Georgia Tech Freshman Drew Burress Has 10 HR in His First 10 College Baseball Games and Should Have Teams Thinking About Tanking for the 2026 MLB Draft
If you haven't heard of Drew Burress yet, learn the name because this kid is unreal. Through his first 10 career games, the Georgia Tech freshman is hitting .432 with 10 HR, 21 RBI and a 1.873 OPS. That'll work.
There are, apparently, 2026 MLB Draft big boards that exist and Perfect Game currently has Burress as the No. 3 overall prospect in a couple years. If for nothing else other than the vibes, though, you have no choice but to put this kid at 1:1. It's three drafts away, who cares?
Burress's swing is just beautiful to watch. His bat speed is insane and his hands fly through the zone. Florida star Jac Caglianone led the country and set the BBCOR bat era record with 33 homers last season, but it looks like that mark may already be in jeopardy thanks to this 18-year-old in Atlanta.
Georgia Tech is a really good baseball program and Burress is from Georgia so who knows if he'd even be interested in leaving, but I'd guess he will get some phone calls this offseason with people offering a nice chunk of change to play elsewhere in 2025.
