What Year Is It? Pablo Sandoval Is Expected To Sign A Minor League Deal With The San Francisco Giants And Will Report To Spring Training As A Non-Roster Invitee

Seriously, what year is it? 2024 and Pablo Sandoval is reporting to spring training for the Giants? That's a sentence I haven't heard in like 10 years. He's expected to sign a minor league deal and will report to spring training in Arizona as a non-roster invitee to big league camp. MLBTradeRumors said this isn't a charity invite either like how they brought in Sergio Romo last year and let him retire and play in front of the fans one last time in an exhibition. This is a move that was made because someone seems to think he has something left in the tank. I don't know if the stuff left in the tank was an old sub or what, but I think they're crazy for this. I know it's 0 risk, but there are a billion players out there who could actually help the team instead of bringing in Pablo. Guy is 37, hasn't played in the bigs since he appeared in 69 games for the Braves in 2021 and last we heard from him he was playing in that weird Dubai league. What exactly do the Giants expect here?

Sandoval had such a weird career, went from a hero with San Fran to an overpaid, lazy player with Boston who had his belt break during an at-bat and was also caught on IG during a game liking pictures by the very own Jared Carrabis. He's easily a long shot to make the Giants team, you can't look someone dead in the eyes and say you are hoping to compete in 2024 and have Pablo Sandoval on your roster. You just can't. My guess is he'll get cut soon and he'll hang em up. Good for him for giving it one last go but I don't see how this works out for him or the Giants in anyway. It will interesting to see what kind of shape this guy is in, guess we'll keep our eyes peeled for highlights from Giants camp. Can't wait to see those. Can't wait to see then bring back Tim Lincecum, Barry Bonds, Willie Mays and Rich Aurilia as well!
