For Some Unknown Reason The NBA Created "NB-AI" Which Allows You To Turn A Live Game Into Your Favorite Movie
This certainly is not the first time we've seen Adam Silver and the NBA release some sort of new technology idea during All Star Weekend. Remember in 2019 when we learned about the jersey of the future?
Well here we are in 2024 and that's still not a thing, but sure that presentation was cool!
What we are getting in 2024 is apparently some sort of AI feature that allows fans to turn a live game into their favorite movie. As you saw in that clip, Wemby loves Spiderman so they turned a game into a Spiderman movie. My question is
I get that I'm an old and the league needs to always be thinking about the younger generation and how they watch sports/what they care about, but again I ask…why? Was this really needed?
Meanwhile, the NBA's officiating problem is still a disaster and getting worse by the game. I don't care if you turn those bad calls into a cartoon, the issue is still them existing in the first place.
If you want to stay in the technology world, how about you fix your League Pass? How about you stop being dicks when it comes to local blackouts? You know, the thing that prevents fans from being able to watch your product, forcing them to find an illegal stream instead despite already forking over the cost of League Pass? I dunno, call me crazy but that's something that is WAY more important than creating some sort of NB-AI feature where I can turn a game into something that looks like my favorite movie.
Yes, this is an extreme old man yelling at the clouds moment by yours truly, I understand that
but I just find it hard to get excited about all these new "futuristic" ideas to help the viewer experience and attract new fans that might not be into basketball while the league continues to give their fans the middle finger when it comes to the current viewing experience.
Sadly, stuff like this is most likely where we are headed not just in the NBA, but every thing in life. AI is basically going to take over the world at some point, and this is how it starts. Creating something that nobody could have honestly been asking for, and the next thing you know we're all bowing down to our AI overlords.
Thanks a lot Adam Silver, it's good to see you have your priorities straight!
