The Justin Fields Trade Scenarios Have My Brain In A Pretzel
The Justin Fields rumors are swirling at gale force speeds now that the NFL season is over. The Steelers have moved ahead of the Bears as the favorite destination for Justin Fields now at -125. NFL Insiders have speculated that the Bears could/should be able to get a first round pick for Justin Fields and there's been two rumors that have made my ears perk up.
Trade 1:
Bears Receive: #3 overall (Marvin Harrison Jr)
Patriots Receive: Justin Fields and the 9th overall pick
Obviously, VERY enticing. Everyone is slobbering over Marvin Harrison Jr. Rightfully so. Getting him in the program with a new QB and a veteran stud like DJ Moore that Harrison already has a relationship with feels like a scenario with zero downside.
Trade 2:
Bears Receive: #20 overall
Pittsburgh Receives: Justin Fields
I don't know if the Steelers would do this, but it feels like that is what is in the air. It would be an uncharacteristic move for the Steelers to give up assets for a QB, but they definitely need one. I don't think the odds would move to -125 to Pittsburgh unless there were heaving rumors that they offered a 1st round pick.
The Bears...have a ton of holes. The need help on both lines, WR, and could probably use a corner in case they can't get a deal done with Jaylon Johnson. I also think this is one of the deeper WR drafts in recent memory. Nabers, Odunze, Keon Coleman, Troy Franklin, Adonai Mitchell, Brian Thomas, Xavier Leggette, Xavier Worthy, Devontez Walker, Jermaine Burton, and Ladd McConkney are all projected to go in the first two rounds. Harrison is obviously at a different level, but if you don't get him you could still improve your WR group later in the draft or in free agency.
I think you need to go with 3 picks instead of two in this scenario. I wouldn't complain about either result, but I want a complete team.
