The Way It Should Be - A Kentucky School District Smartly Declared Today A Holiday So Everyone Can Recover From The Super Bowl

This isn't about the students. Don't get me wrong, you're pumped to not go to school, but oh no. This is for every teacher and adult working there. You want to deal with an OT Super Bowl, a party and then wake up ass early to deal with kids? Absolutely not. This is why it's a genius move. You give the teachers and everyone working there a day off. You can say it's in the name of the kids, but it's simply a smart move for the adults. 

Now as a parent I'm conflicted. There's nothing worse than the random school closing or kid getting sent home from day care because they get sick. Your whole day is thrown off, gotta deal with some little maniac running around, trying to balance them staying awake, staying out of your way but not just staring at a screen for the 400th episode of Paw Patrol in a row. Give my man Zuma some more shine, Paw Patrol. 

I know everyone is screaming about how the Super Bowl should be on a Saturday. I won't say that. I actually love it on a Sunday. I know my job is, well, this, but NFL games belong on Sunday. Today should be a holiday. The whole set up of Super Bowl weekend is perfect. You get college hoops and the 3rd round of the Waste Management on Saturday as stories trickle in the night before the Super Bowl. Then Sunday you can get stuff done, slap on the final round of golf or some shitty Big 10 hoops game and debate who is bringing buffalo chicken dip to the party. 

I also think 6:30 is the perfect kick time for the Super Bowl. Every kid can stay up for it. In fact you should keep kids up for the Super Bowl. Just know the next day is a holiday. We need more leaders like we have here in Kentucky. Get ahead of it and declare the day after the Super Bowl a holiday. You're doing it for yourself and get credit for helping others, which is really all you ever try to do. 

Best part is, there was no rooting interest. Not like there's a pro team around Paris, Kentucky. They weren't doing this to support their team. They just simply wanted to enjoy a Super Bowl and sleep in. That's the American way.
