Aaron Boone Publicly Admitting That Corbin Burnes Joining The Orioles "Could Be A Bit Of A Problem" Is Music To My Ears
Feed me the tears Booney, feed them to me. Never in my life did I think I'd hear the manager of the Yankees proclaim that it wasn't good that the Orioles got a pitcher, a pitcher that Yankees fans for a while had said would end up in pinstripes nonetheless. Yankees finished 19 games behind the Orioles and are still searching for ways to close the gap. It's a beautiful thing we have going on here. They are scared, AL East teams collectively went "ah shit" when they heard that Corbin Burnes was headed to Baltimore. And they should be, this team won 101 games last year and just added a top 4 pitcher in baseball. Should be terrifying for opposing teams.
What a world we're living in where the Orioles now have one of the most complete rotations in baseball with Burnes, Kyle Bradish, Grayson Rodriguez, John Means and Dean Kremer/Tyler Wells/Cole Irvin. The Yankees added Marcus Stroman but behind Gerrit Cole it's a bunch of question marks. Will Rodon and Nestor bounce back? Clark Schmidt still is just....there. Burnes would have been an incredible add to their rotation but that isn't how the Yankees roll anymore. Got Soto and Stroman and kinda shut it down. Now the Orioles are clearly the best team in the division and may be the best team in the AL again. We've been waiting for this forever, now it's happening. Boone and the Yankees shaking in their boots now that the Orioles unlocked the main boss named David Rubenstein.
Let them figure out that they can spend money too, not just trade for guys and it is going to be a nightmare for the rest of the division. I said it the other day and I think this is just going to be the mantra of the season, the times they are a changing. I'll be honest too, I love the honesty from Boone. No real PR/PC talk, didn't try and hide it. Straight up admitted he's scared. That first Burnes - Cole matchup is going to be fantastic too, should be a fun year watching Burnes match up with some of these lineups. But good for Booney for knowing his place and letting everyone know the O's are the big dogs now. Music to my ears.
