I'm Happy That Larry David Attacked Elmo On The Today Show This Morning

SOURCE - Larry David was forced to issue an apology on “Today” after he spontaneously attacked Elmo live on camera. The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator and the “Sesame Street” icon were separate interview guests on the NBC morning show, but they had a brief crossover moment when David crashed the set and groped Elmo’s face much to the horror of the “Today” hosts.

“Oh my god!” shrieked Savannah Guthrie as Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin put their hands over their mouths in shock and horror. Guthrie added, “Larry, you’ve gone too far this time!”

“Let’s get back on the couch and talk about how you’re feeling,” Elmo told David, who fired back: “Somebody had to do it!”

I've kind of had it with Elmo. Fuck him. I'm Team Larry on this one.

Larry David lived nearly every adult's dream this morning by grabbing Elmo's face to finally get him to shut the fuck up. The sheer glee on Larry's face as he walks from a battered and beaten Elmo is fantastic. He's right. Someone DID have to do this. We probably shouldn't be surprised it's Larry David.

We've known for decades that Larry despises people who speak in the third person thanks to "Jimmy". His hatred of Elmo make perfect sense. Elmo goes against everything Larry David believes in philosophically.

I don't see Larry David checking on anyone's emotional well being. Also, apparently Elmo is cheap as fuck.

They didn't sell enough Tickle Me Elmo dolls to afford the $8 blue checkmark? Get the fuck out of here.

Good for Larry for taking a stand and I love that he did it on live TV. It couldn't get edited and Elmo literally had to roll with the punches. I almost never advocate for violence but Elmo has been such an annoying presence for so many decades, I think an exception can be made.

Two things I should note. First, I am too old to have watched Elmo on Sesame Street when I was a kid. I looked it up and he wasn't a permanent character until 1985 when I was 6. I must have just missed him. I have no nostalgia towards Elmo. Maybe you do and I get that. But I don't.

Also, Larry David did apologize to Elmo after the physical incident.

SOURCE - “Elmo, I just want to be apologize,” David said while trying not to laugh. “I’m really sorry.”

“Thank you, Larry,” the “Sesame Street” character responded. “Elmo accepts your apology.”

I don't give a fuck. I'm always going to be on the side of this guy. He's the greatest.
