Luka Doncic Just Told Joel Embiid To Hold His Beer After He Erupted For A Historic 73 Points Against The Hawks

After Joel Embiid's ridiculous 70 point performance a few days ago, if you had to choose someone in the league to be the next player to pull something like that off, who would you choose? 

The beauty of the NBA right now is the fact that there are multiple answers you could give that wouldn't sound all that crazy. You can't even fit all the players on one hand, and I would imagine that anyone with a bit of sense would throw Luka Doncic's name out there. Given his usage rate and the fact that Kyrie Irving is in and out of the lineup, it makes sense.

Well, guess what? Luka Doncic was the next player this season and the 10th player overall in NBA history to drop at least 70 in a real life NBA game

And yeah, so what if it came against the Hawks and their 26th ranked defense? If there's one thing I'm not going to do it's come anywhere close to giving a goddamn 73 burger an asterisk. When you witness one of the greatest scoring performances in NBA history, it's OK to appreciate it for what it is. An absolutely insane night by an insane player. 

Luka's night was already historic given what he did on the way to his 73

and thankfully for the Mavs and their fans, they held off a late Hawks rally to not pull a KAT and have a historic night in a loss. Scoring 73 is cool and all but if it comes in a loss to a bad team it definitely takes the wind out of the sails a little bit. Nobody cares if you go nuts but you can't pull your team over the finish line.

When you take a step back and compare it to what we had the other night when Embiid had 70 and KAT 62, things get a little freaky. Not only did we see Luka get his 73 in a win, we also saw Devin Booker have 62 in a loss (same guy who also had 70 in a loss 6 years ago)

Alright, what's going on here? Getting a 70+ and 60+ on the same night is rare enough, but now we get it literally within 4 days of each other? With the same game results for each guy? What type of dark magic is Adam Silver up to? You can't sit here and tell me that's normal. Logic says it's all just a coincidence and that really this is just a testament to how insanely talented NBA players are nowadays, but that makes too much sense. Adam Silver is definitely pulling some strings somewhere making all this happen. 

Not only that, but this ins all coming right after we had the Luka/Booker drama from the other night? I'm not sure where the connection is exactly, I just know it's there.

Anyway, chalk this up to yet another example of why I keep telling everyone to watch the NBA every night. Not a day goes by it seems where we aren't seeing something insane. Guys are making NBA history left and right putting up some of the most ridiculous performances the NBA has ever seen. If you can't get behind that, well then you just gave a giant dump in your pants.
