Canada Is Cursed - Neil Magny Just Pulled A Win Out Of NOWHERE After Losing 95% Of The Fight Against Mike Malott
CANADA IS CURSED! Well, Scotiabank Arena is, at least. Sorry Leafs fans.
Male Canadian fighters have officially gone 0-7 in Toronto after Mike Malott just choked away an easy victory against Neil Magny in the country's last outing of the night. And to make matters worse - Malott was winning 95% of the fight and got beat in the final seconds of the third round after gassing and getting caught in a bad position. He chopped Magny down with leg kicks just like Ian Garry, took him down multiple times, spent large portions of the fight in full mount - and the vet seemingly had no answers for him!
It wasn't until Malott's cardio failed him that Magny was able to complete a half-slam of his own, and from there, he was able to advance into mount and just pour on ground-and-pound shots til the referee was forced to step in. You could hear a pin drop in that place afterwards, too.
Gillian Robertson and Jasmine Jasudavicius were the only fighters representing Canada to win at UFC 297, and both of them fought so early on that it feels like a lifetime ago a Canadian got their hand raised (and kept it raised - Jourdain doesn't count).
Here's a couple clips from Joe Rogan's Fight Companion tonight with Joey Diaz, Eddie Bravo, and Brendan Schaub for the hell of it....
They've been cracking me up all night.
Reminder: we'll be going live ourselves after the main event tonight to break down the entire card. Subscribe to the Spinnin Backfist MMA Show to be notified when we're live....
