The Bruins Put Up A 9 Spot And Beat The Absolute Piss Out Of The Canadiens

A Bruins blog? In this economy? Sure is. Good evening. The Bruins just shitpumped the Montreal Canadiens 9-4 for their 4th straight win. Tonight we had...

- David Pastrnak score his 30th goal of the season (his 7th season of 30+ goals)

- Brad Marchand score his 20th of the season (his 11th consecutive season of 20+ goals, a new franchise record)

- Pavel Zacha score his 100th career NHL goal

- Danton Heinen record his first career NHL hat trick in his 450th game!!!

- 16 different players recorded a point tonight!!!

- The B's hadn't scored 9 goals in a game since 2012 (literally when I graduated high school).

FINAL: Boston 9, Montreal 4

28-8-9 through 45 games. Man, this team continues to exceed, defy, you name it, expectations. And they're getting healthy, too. We saw Brandon Carlo return after missing 4 games from a concussion (with his history, I wince as I type this). Linus Ullmark returned since getting hurt in Arizona, he settled in after a bit of rust early. Matt Poitras and Derek Forbort (had been on LTIR with a foot injury) both returned as well, and were the only players to not record a single point tonight.

The offense is hummmmingggg right now and it starts at the top with Pastrnak (5G, 4A in last 5GP), Marchand (3G, 3A in last 5GP) and Coyle (2G, 4A in last 5GP). Coyle has had his best start to a season as a Bruin and has really chipped in offensively. He has matched last year's goal total (16) in 37 less games.

Jake DeBrusk (pending UFA) has been HOT with goals in two straight.

The lines have been in a bit of a blender as of late due to injuries but the emergence of Morgan Geekie's play down the middle of the ice has taken the pressure of young rookie Matt Poitras. Geekie can play up and down the lineup and the Bruins' depth has shined through. I almost thought the Bruins had too much 'depth', but when you're winning games it's hard to argue against.

Johnny Beecher was a casualty to Providence but we'll see if that's just a paper transaction. The bottom six of Lauko/Frederic/Boqvist/Heinen/Beecher will need to be sorted out eventually but right now it's a good problem to have.

The biggest strength of the Bruins this season has once again been their goaltending. Jeremy Swayman is headed to the NHL All Star Game because of his play, he's won 3 straight and has current splits of .923 SV% and a 2.37 GAA. The Bruins go as far as their goalies go, and boy what a luxury it is.

I am incredibly curious at what Don Sweeney does at the trade deadline (perhaps deals a defenseman?). 48 days to go.

4 straight wins, points in 8 straight. The Bruins are buzzzzzzzzing.

I know the rivalry has gone a bit stale but my god is it always fun beating the Habs.
