Not a Typo: Miami TE Cam McCormick Is Returning for His NINTH Season of College Football

We see these graphics a lot this time of year with guys announcing their returns to college for their fourth or fifth seasons of eligibility. With the extra Covid year that was granted to every NCAA athlete, we've seen some sixth year seniors recently with a guy or two on their seventh seasons thrown in. Enter Miami tight end Cam McCormick, who will play for the Hurricanes in 2024 for his ninth — yes, that's right — season of college football.

He started playing when Barack Obama was president. Someone could have graduated from fourth grade the same year McCormick graduated from high school and they'd both be in college next year. Other members of McCormick's recruiting class include Jalen Hurts, Nick Bosa, Ed Oliver and Miles Sanders.

McCormick played at Oregon for seven years, but suffered four season-ending injuries and finally played the first full season of his college career last year for Miami. He enters his ninth season with 26 career receptions for 231 yards and four touchdowns.

And look, I can appreciate the perseverance it takes to battle through four injuries and keep playing all this time. That's love and dedication for the game most guys can't fathom. But at 26 years old, it's time to get a job, brother. There's no shame in that game.

Congrats on the ninth season, though. Maybe this is the year Cam puts it all together.
