Dan Campbell Is Right Defending Kerby Joseph After Matthew Stafford Called Him 'Dirty As Fuck' - It's The NFL's Fault Higbee Got Brutally Injured

We all saw this play happen live and now we have the video of Stafford going after Joseph.

I don't have any problem with this from Stafford, Higbee ended up with a torn ACL and MCL on the hit. But it's not Joseph being dirty. The whole rule change is to hit these receivers low. You go high at all and you're getting hit with a penalty. So where do you want Joseph to hit him? It's brutal, but even Collinsworth mentioned it during the broadcast. He's had receivers tell him they want the rule changed so they don't get knees taken out.

And at the same time, Dan Campbell is right here:

It's not even just Campbell. Harrison Smith said the same thing:

If guys can't hit high and are afraid of a penalty there, where do you think they are going to hit? The legs. It's brutal for receivers coming across the middle because this is an outcome that can happen too often. You get a helmet on the knee and buckled like this, you're going to be injured. I'm not here to argue about Joseph's plays throughout the season. We're just talking this one specifically. There's basically nowhere for Joseph to hit. Campbell says they are taught to hit in the thigh, that's fine, but let's not act like it's a large area to target. It's easy to miss.

Is it a bad hit, brutal hit? Sure. But again, it's the NFL and their rules. Where do you want these guys to hit? They are trained to go low and this is what happens when that's the case plus the ball puts Higbee in a bad spot. It fucking sucks, but it's not intentionally dirty.
